Steel exports up 19.2 pct in Jan-Nov 2018 YoY, imports declined by 8.6 pct YoY

According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in the first eleven months of 2018, Turkish steel exports increased by 19.2 pct to 19.9 mln tons. Steel imports decreased by 8.6 pct YoY to 13.7 mln tons.

In Jan-Nov 2018, long steel exports grew by 14 pct to 9.7 mln tons. Flat steel exports amounted to 5.4 mln tons, up by 40 pct YoY. Semi-finished steel exports increased by 23.1 pct to 951,000 tons. Pipes exports grew by 8.4 pct YoY to 1.8 mln tons.

In the same period, flat steel imports were 7.1 mln tons, down by 15 pct YoY. Long steel imports decreased by 7 pct to 1.2 mln tons and semi-finished steel imports were totalled 4.5 mln tons, up by 2.1 pct YoY. Pipe imports declined by 2pct YoY to 464,00 tons.

In November 2018, total steel exports were amounted to 2.5 mln tons, up by 45 pct YoY. Steel imports declined by 40.1 pct YoY to 886,000 tons.

In the same month, flat steel exports rose sharply by 134.1 pct to 765,000 tons. Long product exports amounted to 1 mln tons up by 1.8 pct YoY. Semi-finished steel exports grew by 481.1 pct YoY to 277,000 tons.

Semi-finished steel imports decreased by 30.4 pct YoY to 320,000 tons in October 2018. Flat product imports decreased by 51 pct to 399,000 tons YoY while long steel product imports amounted to 79,000 tons, down by 39 pct YoY.
