Crude steel output grew by 0.5 pct in Jan-Nov 2018 YoY - TCUD

Turkish crude steel production increased by 0.5 pct YoY in the first eleven months of 2018 to 34.429 mln tons compared to 34.256 mln tons in the same period last year, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

In Jan-Nov 2018, billet production amounted to 22.889 mln tons, down by 2.8 pct YoY. Slab output in the given period grew by 7.8 pct YoY to 11.54 mln tons.

Production via EAF route increased by 0.9 pct to 23.922 mln tons but output by blast furnace route was down by 0.5 pct to 10.507 mln tons, both on YoY basis.

In November 2018, Turkish crude steel output decreased by 2.1 pct to 3.1 mln tons. EAF production declined by 4.7 pct YoY but production from blast furnace route increased by 4.3 pct YoY.
