According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in March this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 75,168 metric tons, decreasing by 12.02 percent year on year and down 39.11 percent over February. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $40.55 mln, rising by 8.48 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and down 37.28 percent month on month. In March, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to $540/mt, up $15,77/mt or three percent from February levels and indicating an increase of $102/mt or 23.31 percent compared to March 2009. Turkey's top ten wire rod export destinations in March 2010 (mt): USA - 21,552; Egypt - 8,355; Taiwan - 7,477; Brazil - 7,047; Saudi Arabia - 7,008; Iran - 3,918; Spain - 3,502; Israel - 3,200; Italy - 2,900; Jordan - 1,550 Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2010, Turkey's wire rod exports surged 5.66 percent, amounting to 266,710 metric tons, while the revenue of these exports totaled $139.1 mln, up 18.68 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009. |
